Israeli police imposed strict restrictions on Palestinians while protecting approximately 1,500 Jewish settlers who stormed the courtyard of Jerusalem's occupied Al-Aqsa Mosque on Sunday. The settlers entered in waves through the Mughrabi Gate on the second day of the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles, after which Israeli authorities sealed the gate.

The settlers entered in waves through the Mughrabi Gate on the second day of the Jewish “Feast of Tabernacles”. Israeli authorities shut the gate after the incursions.
Inside the compound, settlers held prayers and Talmudic rituals, particularly near the Cotton Merchants’ Gate, and brought in “plant offerings”, the governorate said.
Others prayed outside Bab Hutta, another entrance to Al-Aqsa, as Israeli forces maintained restrictions around the mosque and across occupied Jerusalem’s Old City.
The governorate recorded about 40,661 Jewish settler incursions into the mosaue between January and the end of August.
