Iran's Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that the Strait of Hormuz will remain shut until Washington meets certain conditions.
Ghalibaf, who also acts as Tehran's chief negotiator in the talks, said that the contested waterway will remain closed until seven conditions based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding are met by Washington.
He conceded that the US had made "some proposals through a mediator" after Tehran presented a seven-day roadmap to reopen the strait.
But he warned Washington that "the era of wasting time and dictating unilateral demands is over" and Iran's position remains "clear and definite".
