Hamas condemns Ben-Gvir’s threat to kill Palestinian prisoner Hassan Salameh

Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has published a video threatening to kill Palestinian prisoner Hassan Salameh, prompting condemnation from Hamas.

The group described the threat as “provocative” and a “flagrant violation of all international laws”, saying the video “will not weaken his resolve or that of our other prisoners”.

Hamas also reaffirmed its commitment to securing the release of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.

“We have exerted – and will continue to exert – every possible effort at all levels and through all means to secure the release of our prisoners from the occupation’s jails,” Hamas said in a statement.

“We remain committed to this pledge until they attain their freedom. The fate of Ben-Gvir and his ilk – leaders of the fascist entity – will be the same as that of other war criminals throughout history.”
