More than 2,000 people fleeing fighting in Yemen have arrived on the shores of Djibouti, according to the International Organization for Migration. The UN agency is providing immediate humanitarian assistance to the arrivals in the border city of Obock.

“More than 2,000 people fleeing hostilities in Yemen have arrived on Djibouti’s shores,” the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in a social media post on Sunday.

The UN’s migration agency added that in Obock, a city only about 20km (12 miles) across the water from the Yemeni coast, it is providing immediate assistance to those arriving, including water and hot meals.

“More support is needed,” the IOM added.
