Harry Kane has won the 2026 Ballon d’Or, which was awarded in London for the first time. He becomes the fifth Englishman to win the trophy, 25 years after Michael Owen.

In Ligue 1, Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon to top the table for the first time this season. With just a few days to go before the start of the Summer Youth Olympic Games, Senegal received support from Qatar in Dakar. In the NBA, the Dallas Mavericks beat the Miami Heat, who are still without a win.
