Israeli military helicopters opened fire near Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza on Thursday morning. Israeli forces simultaneously raided Tuqu' town southeast of Bethlehem, setting up a military checkpoint and detaining a 24-year-old Palestinian resident.

Israeli military helicopters opened fire early Thursday in the vicinity of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, Palestinian news agency Wafa reports.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided the town of Tuqu’, southeast of Bethlehem, shortly after midnight, Wafa reported.

The forces set up a military checkpoint in the centre of the town, triggering confrontations with Palestinian youth. They chased the young men through the town’s neighbourhoods, fired sound grenades at them, and detained a 24-year-old resident, who was taken to an unknown destination.

The forces also raided areas surrounding Palestinian residents’ homes before withdrawing from the town towards its western entrance after a raid that lasted about two hours, the report said.
