Palestinian civil defence teams recovered the bodies and remains of 105 Palestinians from beneath the rubble of a residential building over a 17-day operation in central Gaza City. The recovery effort was coordinated with Egyptian authorities and highlights the ongoing humanitarian toll of the conflict since October 2023.
The bodies and remains of 105 Palestinians were recovered from beneath the rubble of a residential block over the span of a little over two weeks, the Civil Defense said.
The 17-day search was conducted in al-Taj area, located in central Gaza City. The Civil Defense said the recovery operation was carried out in coordination with an Egyptian committee.
"These are civilians and human beings who have the full right to live in peace and safety," Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal told Anadolu Agency.
The Palestinian health ministry in the Strip has recorded the killing of nearly 74,000 Palestinians since the start of Israel's genocide in October 2023. Thousands more remain missing, most likely beneath the rubble.
