US envoys equipped with ‘few new ideas’, looking to revive old proposals, FT reports

Citing sources, the Financial Times reports that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have brought “few new ideas” with them to Kyiv and are mainly seeking to revive earlier proposals to end the war.

The documents the duo is presenting, the FT‘s Ukraine correspondent Christopher Miller writes on X, are updated versions of previous proposals that have been “revised to reflect the changed circumstances since peace negotiations stalled in February, at the outset of the US war with Iran”.

One of the central issues is the remaining Ukrainian-held territory in Donbas – estimated at around 25 percent – which Russia has claimed but has so far been unable to capture.

Moscow and Kyiv exchange fire ahead of Ukraine meeting with US envoys

Russia and Ukraine continued to target each other with drone and missile strikes overnight into Sunday.

Moscow launched 108 drones and S8000 Banderol missiles at Ukraine, Kyiv's air force said, adding that it had shot down the majority of the drones and missiles and that 11 areas across the country had been hit by the bombardment.

For its part, Russia's military said that it had neutralised 258 Ukrainian drones fired at Russia overnight. Independent Russian media outlet ASTRA said that a refinery in the town of Riazan had been hit, sparking a fire.

In Zaporizhzhia, Russian drone strikes killed a 74-year-old man and wounded three people, while a drone damaged an apartment building, injuring seven people, in the Khmelnytskyi region, Ukraine's state emergency service said.

In Russia, a man was killed and a woman seriously wounded when a Ukrainian drone struck a vehicle, local authorities in the Belgorod border region said.
