The UN has documented 280 armed Israeli incursions into Syria during September, with 49 Syrians currently detained. Released Syrian detainees have reported allegations of torture and ill-treatment, marking the highest monthly number of such incursions since the start of the year.
Israel has carried out 280 armed incursions into Syria in September and currently detains 49 Syrians, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk has said.
Several released Syrian detainees have reported “allegations of torture and ill-treatment”, among other violations against them, according to a statement issued by Turk’s office on Friday.
Israeli incursions into Syria in September -- marked by raids on homes, restrictions on movement, harassment and intimidation of civilians, arbitrary detention and destruction of livelihoods -- were the highest monthly number of incursions since the start of the year, the statement said.
