The Saudi-led coalition rejected Houthi claims of attacking Riyadh, accusing the group of attempting to divert attention from mounting military losses and public anger. The coalition's spokesman attributed the claims to pressure the Houthis face on multiple battlefields across Yemen.
By claiming an attack on Riyadh, Houthis were “attempting to divert attention from the scale of the losses and the growing public anger against them”, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has said, according to the Asharq Al-Awsat news outlet.
Major General Turki Al-Malki, a spokesman for the coalition, said: “What the Houthis are facing in Taiz, and the human losses suffered by the group’s members at the hands of the heroes of the Yemeni Armed Forces and the Popular Resistance on all fronts drives them to seek illusory victories.”
Earlier, Houthis claimed a ballistic missile and drone attack on an Aramco oil facility near Riyadh.
