SEOUL—South Korea will train hundreds of thousands of troops to become “drone warriors” to counter the threat from North Korea, as unmanned systems reshape modern warfare.

On Friday, South Korea announced a plan to deploy 60,000 drones in the next three years and eventually train the country’s entire active-duty personnel to operate drones to counter North Korea.
