The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) says it is struggling to determine the true number of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz, as most targeted vessels refuse to report incidents to the agency. Combined transits through the strait remain about 70 percent below pre-war levels.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has said it was struggling to establish the true number of attacks in the Strait of Hormuz because most vessels attacked were refusing to report incidents to the agency.

In its 'Voluntary Reporting Area Weekly Overview', the maritime security watchdog said that reports received through other sources could not always be verified. It also said that US-reported facilitated transit figures could not be independently verified.

Combined inbound and outbound transits through the Strait of Hormuz remained about 70 percent below pre-war levels, it said.

The UKMTO added that of the 12 vessels struck during its latest weekly reporting period--10 in Hormuz and one each in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman--six continued their journeys or reached port, one was lost, and two were disabled or not under command.

Damage or outcomes remained unconfirmed in three cases, according to the report.
