The Lebanese army on Tuesday accused Israel of spreading misinformation, after Tel Aviv claimed Beirut failed to disarm Hezbollah south of the Litani River as stipulated under a ceasefire agreement.
"On October 20, 2026, the Israeli occupation, through its official page on the X platform, issued baseless claims regarding the operations of the Lebanese Army in the south of the Litani region, casting doubt on its ability to carry out the tasks assigned to it," a post from the official X account for the Lebanese army read.
The army went on to reaffirm its commitment to existing agreements, while accusing Israel of continued attacks and violations on the country.
Earlier, Israeli military spokesperson Ella Waweya accused Lebanon's military of failing to put a stop to Hezbollah activity south of the Litani River.
According to The New Arab, the Israeli allegations come just hours before US-mediated talks between Lebanon and Israel.
