US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Washington maintains full confidence in the security of all its military bases following the arrest of five individuals near a British air base hosting American bombers on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. Rubio clarified that the decision to relocate B-1 bombers from the British base is not directly linked to the incident but rather reflects routine reallocation of defense resources.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Monday that Washington still has confidence in the security of all of its bases, after five men were arrested near a British air base that hosts American bombers on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts.

Rubio, asked about the US decision to remove its B-1 bombers from the British base, said the defence department constantly reallocates resources where they need to be and that he would not directly tie last week's incident to the move.

"It's not unusual to see rotations happen," Rubio said. He added that British authorities had been very cooperative on the case.
