Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that its advanced air defence system intercepted and destroyed an American MQ-1 reconnaissance drone over the Strait of Hormuz. The statement suggested that the US resorted to using the older drone model after losing significant numbers of its more advanced MQ-9 aircraft.
Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said that its new advanced aerospace defence system "intercepted and destroyed" another American MQ-1 drone over the Strait of Hormuz.
"Due to the destruction of a large portion of the MQ9s, the US has been forced to use this drone again, and by God's grace, both of them are being extensively hunted by the IRGC's new defense system," the IRGC said in a statement carried by state media.
