Qatar has condemned an attack on one of its tankers as a "dangerous escalation" that threatens global energy security and maritime navigation.
In a foreign ministry statement, Doha warned of the dangers posed by "reckless and irresponsible practices" of attacking tankers.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirms that the State of Qatar reserves its right to take all necessary measures – in accordance with the provisions of international law and the Charter of the United Nations – to protect its property, safeguard its interests, and ensure the safety of its ships and crews," said the Qatari foreign ministry.
Earlier, the Qatar Gas Transport Company Limited said its vessel was hit by “unidentified objects” while sailing in the Gulf on Friday.
