Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have arrived in Britain, U.K. media reported, following their decision to return after six years living in California.

The family flew into the country privately and are expected to reside outside London in the Cotswolds area, the BBC reported. Harry and Meghan’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are expected to start school in the September term.

The arrival comes less than a week after the couple shocked Britain’s royal watchers with news they would return following a public split with the royal family in 2020.

The years since have been filled with acrimony, including the publication of Harry’s explosive memoir “Spare” and his quest to retain the same level of funded royal protection he had as a working royal, which was rejected by a British court.

The couple have no plans to return to life as working royals and are expected to keep their home in Montecito, as well as a vacation property in Portugal, raising questions about the permanence of the move.

The decision to return to Britain comes after an apparent thaw in relations between Harry and King Charles III, who spent time together last month.
