Attack on Iranian vessel kills one, wounds three

An attack on an Iranian commercial vessel near Hengam Island and Qeshm Island's Shib Deraz coast killed one person and wounded three others, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB. The strike comes just a day before scheduled talks between Iran and Gulf states in Oman over the strategic waterway critical to global energy trade.

One persons was killed and three others wounded when an Iranian commercial vessel was struck near Hengam Island and the Shib Deraz coast of Qeshm Island, Iranian broadcaster IRIB reported, citing Qeshm Governor Hossein Amir Teymouri.

Several explosions were reported overnight around Qeshm, the largest island in the Hormuz strait.

The attack comes a day before a meeting between Iran and Gulf states in Oman, which also borders the strait, over the blockaded route crucial for global oil and gas trade.
