BEIRUT — Clashes between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon have escalated in recent days, straining a U.S.-brokered ceasefire that could be key to a broader peace deal between Washington and Tehran, and sparking fear in Lebanon of an even larger-scale Israeli military operation ahead of Israel’s elections next month.
