Humanitarian crisis deepens in Yemen’s Taiz as Houthi siege continues
Yemen’s Ministry of Human Rights has warned of an impending humanitarian disaster in the besieged city of Taiz, accusing the Houthis of tightening their blockade and cutting off critical supplies to residents.
More than 250 civilians have been killed or wounded in recent shelling, sniper fire, and targeted attacks on ambulances, the ministry said in a statement carried by state-run Saba news agency.
Hospitals face a complete shutdown because of critical shortages of fuel, medicine, and medical supplies threatening emergency services, intensive care, and neonatal units.
The ministry also warned of a severe drinking water crisis after Houthi forces blocked access to the key Dhubab basin and targeted water transport routes.
Declining food supplies and rising prices continue to exhaust Yemenis’ ability to meet basic daily needs, it added.

Oil prices on the decline as Brent crude dips to $114 a barrel
Oil prices continue to fall with the price of Brent crude slipping 1.63 percent to $114.82 per barrel as of 09:59 GMT.
US crude futures fell 2 percent to $101.19 a barrel.
The continued decline comes as talks among Mecca pact states and Iranian officials in Tehran kick off as part of efforts to de-escalate Middle East tensions amid the threat of renewed war between the United States and Iran.
Brent crude fell 1.7 percent after Qatari mediators traveled to Tehran on Sunday as part of efforts to ease regional turmoil, although prices remained above the psychologically important $100-per-barrel level.

Death toll in Gaza rises to 5 as Israel attacks displaced Palestinians
The death toll from attacks by Israel’s military across the besieged Gaza Strip on Monday has risen to five.
Civil defence agency spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said 13 people have been killed and about 60 wounded by Israeli fire and air strikes in Gaza over the past 24 hours.
“We transported three martyrs, including a child, following an Israeli air strike targeting a camp for displaced people in the al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Younis,” Bassal told AFP news agency.
The agency said a fourth person was killed in an attack on a tent housing displaced Palestinians also near Khan Younis city in southern Gaza.
A third air strike killed one person and injured three others in Gaza City’s al-Rimal neighbourhood, according to al-Shifa Hospital.

Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia denounced by ally Pakistan
Pakistan has condemned Houthi ballistic missile attacks targeting Saudi Arabia from Yemen including areas in the vicinity of holy sites.
“These reprehensible attacks constitute a grave violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and demonstrate a blatant disregard for the sanctity of Islam’s holiest sites and the safety of civilians,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Islamabad reiterates its solidarity with Saudi Arabia and commitment to the Mecca alliance, it added.
“Pakistan reaffirms its steadfast support for the security, stability and defence of the kingdom – including the protection of the two Holy Mosques – against any external aggression or threat,” said the statement.

Saudi Aramco to store crude in Singapore amid supply concerns
The effects of the US-Israeli war on Iran that began on February 28 continue to reverberate as companies adjust to the disruptions of commercial shipping through the key Strait of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb Strait.
October has been the worst month for attacks on commercial shipping in Hormuz and nearby waterways, according to data compiled by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.
The head of the International Energy Agency, Fatih Birol, reinforced concerns about the supply situation, saying on Monday at an industry event in Singapore that he does not expect energy markets in 2027 to return to where they were before the US-Israel war on Iran.
Energy ministers from Saudi Arabia and Singapore, meanwhile, said state-owned oil company Saudi Aramco will start storing crude oil in Singapore from the second half of 2027, to shore up the resilience of Aramco’s supply chain in the region.

The Saudi-led coalition battling Yemen’s Houthi rebels says it degraded their ability to strike targets inside the kingdom after destroying tunnels used to store ballistic missiles and launchers.
Spokesperson Major-General Turki al-Malki said in a post attacks also aim to cut off the Houthis’ supply lines between areas under their control and targeted rebel fortifications and military equipment along the front lines inside Yemen.
Al-Malki said the coalition will continue to use “deterrent operational measures” to protect against the Houthis’ “brutal attacks” inside Saudi Arabia and in Yemen.
