Saudi Arabia will not be hosting the Dakar rally in 2027, the organisers announced on Sunday.
The driving competition would not be taking place in the kingdom "following recent developments in the region", said the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) in a statement.
"This decision is exceptional and one-off and was taken in close coordination with the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF), and with the support of the FIA and the FIM [Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme]," they said.
