Iran announces major gas discovery in Fars province
Iran’s oil minister says more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas has been discovered in southern Fars province, according to the Fars news agency.
He said around 5.7 trillion cubic feet of the reserves are estimated to be recoverable, an amount equivalent to roughly 15 years of production from one phase of the South Pars gas field.
He added that the field also contains significant volumes of gas condensate, saying the combined resources were worth “tens of billions of dollars” and would create “a new source of wealth for the country”.

Palestinian children in Gaza learn to swim after losing limbs in Israeli strikes
Thousands of children in Gaza are learning to swim again after losing limbs in Israeli attacks.
Community groups are providing swimming lessons in a bid to return some normality to Palestinian children across the Strip.
The Tanteesh Foundation and Heal Palestine are offering classes in the hope of providing a temporary escape. Most of the coaches are also amputees.
“Before, the children were generally in a bad mental state. But once they entered the pool, their mood changed and their confidence increased,” said coach Nour al-Deen Qashqas.
On Friday, a thousand children came together to swim in the sea off Khan Younis in Gaza.
The UN says Gaza has the world’s highest number of child amputees per capita, an estimated 4,000 since the war began.

The child was shot in the chest in the camp, located east of Nablus.

Iran’s FM says Trump’s economic war an ‘old US bullying tactic’
Foreign Minister Araghchi says Trump’s economic pressure campaign against Iran is part of what he described as Washington’s longstanding “bullying” tactics.
“Economic warfare is a recurring scenario and the same old bullying tactic in American policy,” he said. “It’s a familiar movie that we’ve seen many times, and we know how to deal with it.”
Araghchi said Washington’s renewed use of military threats and claims of possible attacks showed that it was “desperate in the face of the Iranian nation” and had “no new solutions”.

Israeli army attacks southern Lebanon amid increased military activity
The drone targeted an area between Al-Hanniye and Al-Qlailah in the Tyre district, according to the official National News Agency.
The agency said that an Israeli Merkava tank struck Tyre’s eastern neighbourhood of Mansouri in a separate incident.
The attacks come amid increased drone and surveillance aircraft activity in Tyre, the agency added.

Pregnant Palestinian detainees face harsh conditions in Israeli prison, office says
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office says pregnant detainees in Israel’s Damon Prison are facing severe health and living conditions, including inadequate medical care, poor nutrition and the confiscation of clothing and personal hygiene supplies.
It said Manar Ibrahim Karaja, who is five months pregnant, has not had a pregnancy check-up since July 8. The office said that for more than two months, the mother of two has also suffered from severe itching and skin lesions resembling symptoms of scabies.
The office said that Karaja’s weight fell from 60kg before pregnancy to 54kg within 20 days of her detention and has since risen only to 57kg, attributing it to poor-quality food lacking nutrients needed during pregnancy.
The office also mentioned pregnant detainee Dana Joudeh, who is due to enter her ninth month of pregnancy in early September, raising concerns over her health. It called for urgent and regular medical examinations, adequate nutrition and hygiene supplies, and for Karaja to receive dermatological treatment and hospital-based pregnancy monitoring without delay.

Iranian army official credits war with strengthening national unity
Strong government support for the military during the war against the United States and Israel is a key factor in maintaining military capabilities, Iranian army spokesperson Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia has said.
In an interview with the official IRNA news agency, Akraminia said the government had adequately met the armed forces’ budgetary and financial requirements despite Iran’s economic difficulties during the war.
Cooperation between the government and armed forces remains strong, he said, adding that the conflict has strengthened national unity and created greater geopolitical awareness among Iranians.
Akraminia also said that strengthened national cohesion is one of the major outcomes of the war, as Iranians rallied around the country, its national interests and the leadership.
