A former Mossad agent who became a naturalised US citizen helped Brazilian Senator Flavio Bolsonaro leave the country in defiance of a judicial order barring him from travelling abroad, CNN Brasil has reported, citing findings from a Brazilian security agency investigation.
The operation was planned before the second round of Brazil's presidential election and involved individuals in Argentina and the United States, according to the report.
The former Israeli intelligence officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, arrived in Brazil on October 19, six days before the runoff, and accompanied Bolsonaro from Brasilia to the Argentine border.
Brazilian investigators traced two commercial vans crossing the Tancredo Neves Bridge, linking Foz do Iguaçu in Brazil with Puerto Iguazú in Argentina, using security camera footage. Bolsonaro and the former Mossad agent travelled in one vehicle, while his wife and two daughters were in the second. One driver was identified as a former municipal councillor from Foz do Iguaçu, while the other was his son.
After crossing into Argentina, the family boarded a Gulfstream G400 executive jet operated by Argentine airline Baires Fly. The aircraft flew to the United States, stopping to refuel in Guayaquil, Ecuador, before landing on Wednesday morning at Opa-locka Executive Airport near Miami, CNN Brasil reported.
