Badr Abdelatty has urged Iran’s Abbas Araghchi to help ease regional tensions, demanding that attacks on Saudi Arabia stop immediately.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said Abdelatty described the attacks as “unacceptable” and said there was “no justification for these attacks”.

“[Abdelatty] underscored the importance of de-escalation and containing regional tensions in light of their negative repercussions on the security and stability of all countries in the region and the world,” the statement said.

Abdelatty also urged Tehran and Washington to resume talks. He said diplomacy offered the only route to settling their disputes and averting further instability.
