Mark Selby, world number two, advanced to the third round of the English Open with a thrilling deciding-frame victory over China's Zhang Anda. The 43-year-old will face Kyren Wilson in the last 16.

World number two Mark Selby progressed to the third round of the English Open by winning a deciding frame against China's Zhang Anda.

Selby completed a final clearance of 39 to win the final frame 59-49, taking victory on the black.

Zhang had levelled the tie at 3-3 with a century break, after Selby has turned round a 2-1 deficit to lead 3-2.

The 43-year-old will now meet Kyren Wilson, who won 4-3 against Wuhan Open champion Chang Bingyu, in the last 16 in Brentwood.

Oliver Lines, who defeated world number one Zhao Xintong in the first round, exited the competition with a 4-3 defeat to Yuan Sijun, losing the last two frames having pulled back from 2-0 down to lead 3-2.

World number three Judd Trump moved into the third round with a 4-1 win over Ashley Carty and will play Anthony McGill, who defeated Fan Zhengyi 4-1.

Barry Hawkins beat Daniel Wells 4-1 to set-up a tie with Mark Williams, who triumphed 4-3 over Matthew Selt, while Wu Yize sealed a 4-2 victory over compatriot Xu Si and will now face Liam Davies, who took a 4-1 win against Xinbo Wang.

Shaun Murphy and Ali Carter were the only 4-0 victors in the round, beating Jamie Clarke and Robbie Williams respectively.
