U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes targeted positions belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), citing what it described as Iranian Guard Corps attempts to disrupt maritime navigation in the strait, according to a statement.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Fars News Agency reported that the attack targeted the village of Masan on Qeshm Island, as well as four locations in the Strait of Hormuz.
Explosions were also heard in the cities of Konarak and Chabahar in Iran’s southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan Province, as well as in the port city of Bandar Abbas and Sirik.
