Palestinian civil defence authorities recovered the remains of 55 members of the Malka family from beneath a building in Gaza City's Zeytoun area, all of whom had taken shelter there during an Israeli bombing campaign approximately two years ago. Search operations lasted over 72 hours, with authorities indicating that a joint funeral procession is planned for early next week.
The remains of 55 Palestinians, all belonging to a single family, have been recovered underneath the rubble of a building in the Zeytoun area of Gaza City, Al Jazeera reported.
The victims all belong to the Malka family and had sought refuge in the building roughly two years ago during an Israeli bombing campaign.
Civil defence authorities said they had been searching for more than 60 bodies of victims from the Malka family over the previous 72 hours, adding that a joint funeral procession is due to take place early next week, according to the report.
