Democratic Senator: We’re Spending Tens of Billions on AI, Yet We Can’t Restore Power in Indiana

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders has launched a sharp criticism of the Trump administration and its war against Iran, questioning the government’s spending priorities amid reports of disruptions at power plants in the United States and Europe.

In a post on X, Sanders said the United States is spending tens of billions of dollars on artificial intelligence for the war against Iran, while struggling to restore electricity at power plants in Gary and Indiana, which he described as low-income communities.

Sanders called for the United States to reassess its national priorities, arguing that the country is one of the wealthiest in the world and should ensure that essential infrastructure is functioning for its citizens.

The remarks came as reports circulated on social media claiming that Iranian hackers had breached power facilities in the United States and several European countries, disrupting their operations for several days.
